Nolan Transport turned into Santa HQ for our first annual Christmas Jumper Day in aid of the Wexford Marine Watch organisation ( http://www.wexfordmarinewatch.com/ ) The Christmas Jumpers came in all shapes, sizes, price ranges and DIY specials;   We sold an array of cupcakes, minced pies and mulled wine (also had a few gluten free option for the gluten intolerant folk in the office) and have raised over €350 for the cause so far. About Wexford Marine Watch ‘Wexford MarineWatch’ was established in December 2012 primarily to try and combat a long epidemic of suicides in the  Wexford Harbour and Bridge areas – one of the longest bridges in Ireland today at over 580 metres. Most of these individuals are not recovered in time and get swept away by the very strong tidal flows in the Harbour. This often results in drawn out lengthy searches, sometimes without success – resulting in distress for the families, the relatives, the search teams and the wider community. Wexfo

For years Nolan Transport could only train up to 6 drivers at a time in our small driver training room. To train all our drivers more efficiently we decided to build a dedicated training academy. This academy has been in place since the beginning of the year. We have conducted hours of training which include; Driver Induction Training GDP Training Air freight Training Manual Handling Training

Our New Ross office staff got taken out on a lovely restaurant cruise last Friday on the Galley Cruising Restaurant, New Ross. We all had a lovely time on the boat and had a lovely evening, the rain stayed away this year. A big thanks to all at the Galley Cruising Restaurant for their hospitality. As you may be aware the Garda Siochana have issued a statement for Operation "Slow Down" 2013 which states; From 7am on Friday 31st May to 7am on Saturday 1st June, An Garda Siochana, along with other stakeholders, will run Operation "Slow Down". The objectives of the Operation are to raise awareness of the dangers of inappropriate and excessive speed, reduce the number of speed related collisions, and therefore save lives and reduce injuries on our roads. Nolan Transport have been conducting our own "slow down" initiative over the last few months by placing a speed limit advisory sign in our yards and sticking an image of it on all of the drivers pay slips; By decreasing your speed by just 5 km/h it would not only save lives but it will also cut fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.   Nolan Transport were glad to sponsor the Mount Leinster Challenge 2013 which took place on Friday the 17th of May. Organisers, Slaney Cycle Club, posted the following response to the event Thanks to everyone who attended Yesterdays Mount Leinster Challenge and made it, We think, one of the best yet. The weather was a huge bonus. None of the rain forecast-ed arrived and we had bright sunshine for most of the day. Sorry about the headwind on the way out but it became a good friend on the final run for home! Thanks to all our volunteers who assisted us today on the MLC. Special thanks to the people who make this event so special - the cheerful, hard working, dedicated team at the Kiltealy food stop. The event would be nothing without this team who year after year go above and beyond the call of duty to provide such a great and welcome spread. Chapeau!

So, I started in France with a collection in Rennes and drove up to Caen. I got the night ferry from Caen to Portsmouth and the next day I drove to Carlisle in Cumbria to offload. Next I drove to Blyth for a collection and back to Liverpool to drop the trailer at the port. What is your favourite country to drive in? I like driving in France because the roads are really good and it has the best signage in all of Europe. What is your favourite country to eat in? Spain. Favourite meal there? Paella! What do you like to eat when you go home to Poland? Bigos, which is cabbage with meat. What do you like about the job? I love having so much knowledge about Europe – the countries and the roads. Nolan Transport was delighted to donate a much needed desktop computer to the New Ross Men's Shed. Collecting the computer on behalf of the shed were Lalo Malone and Tommy Dwyer, who said that it is the first computer for the shed and will make a huge difference. They added that there is very eager 82 year old named Daithi, who will have "a new lease of life" with it. It will be very useful for the shed, especially as a means of networking and communicating with other sheds. The New Ross Men's Shed is located in the Irishtown and is one of many sheds in the county. Established over a year ago, it provides a space where men can come together to work on projects, learn new skills and socialise. It is a welcoming and stimulating environment that is completely alcohol and drug free. There are currently 14 men working at the shed and a major project that they are working on is the 'Three Rivers' project. The product of this will be a 12 x 5 foot, 1.5 tonne

Between 1-500 loads of hay are on the way from the UK by way of Dairygold in Mitchelstown. Leadership on this issue has been given by Minister Coveney and MEP Sean Kelly along with senior members of the farming community as well as Dairygold CEO Jim Woulfe. They were all present for the delivery of the first 10 loads in Dairygold in Mitchelstown this morning. This project is being managed by Nolantransport.com and all concerned were given full view of all cargo both en-route and to be moved on Nolan Transports LIVE customer portal - the sense of urgency of this life saving cargo is real and this project is being headed by Noel Nolan and will continue for as long as it takes to overcome the current shortage. Held Saturday 16th March 2013, Hosted by St. Mary's Secondary School, New Ross, Co. Wexford. Nolan Transport were glad to sponsor a few jumps at the All Ireland Hunter Trails. The event took place on Saturday the 16th of March in Moorefield, Ballinaboola on the grounds of the Wexford Hunt. Nolan Transport staff Liz and Rayanne had a great time at this event meeting some of the nominees for the "Customer Service Award" that we are sponsoring. We wish all nominees the  Best of Luck for the awards, which will take place Friday 12th in the Brandon House Hotel, New Ross.

In January of this year, 12 Nolan Transport employees took a Transport Management CPC training course in our new training facility at the Nolan Transport premises. CPC stands for Certificate of Professional Competence and in order to gain this certificate, a candidate must attend an approved and certified course and successfully pass the exam. The course instructor was Manus Mulligan of Robin Mulligan Ltd, a leading transport training provider in the road haulage sector. The training took place over 7 days between 3rd and 31st January. Many subjects were covered, including Route Planning and Road Safety, Health and Safety Legislation, and Accident Procedures and Prevention. Following the course, the candidates had to sit an exam on 1st February. Kevin Fitzharris from the UK Desk described the exam as  " intense " . Paper one was from 10:30 to 13:00 and Paper two was from 14:30 to 17:30. Just 10% was multiple choice questions and the rest was written. Thankfully, all 1
