How long have you been driving trucks?
7 years.

How long have you worked at Nolan Transport?
Since January 2011.

Can you describe your last job?
So, I started in France with a collection in Rennes and drove up to Caen. I got the night ferry from Caen to Portsmouth and the next day I drove to Carlisle in Cumbria to offload. Next I drove to Blyth for a collection and back to Liverpool to drop the trailer at the port.

What is your favourite country to drive in?
I like driving in France because the roads are really good and it has the best signage in all of Europe.

What is your favourite country to eat in?
Spain.

Favourite meal there?
Paella!

What do you like to eat when you go home to Poland?
Bigos, which is cabbage with meat.

What do you like about the job?
I love having so much knowledge about Europe – the countries and the roads.

What do you not like about your job?
Not knowing if, or when, there will be work.

Did you always want to be driver?
Yes, since I was a little boy. My father was a lorry driver too. It’s in the blood.

Do you eat Yorkie bars?
Yes. I love all the chocolate!

Back in March a few of our staff decided to do fundraising for Pieta House  linking in with their Darkness Into Light event. After researching Pieta house they were made aware that It costs approximately €1,000 to successfully bring one person through a full suite of therapy sessions and into the light, they decided to set this as their target. Nolan Transport are proud to announce that not only did they reach their target, they exceeded it raising: €1,255 After a few weeks of brainstorming, they decided on a few fundraising ideas that they believed would help reach their target. With a guess the amount competition on the final day. Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA)

Changes taking place from January 2015 in relation to the European Union directive on Fuel Emission that all ferry operators operating in the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). The SECA zone includes English Channel and North Sea that we must travel though when moving your cargo going to/from Mainland Europe. The current maximum allowed Sulphur content in marine fuels is 1.0% and this will reduce to 0.1% within the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). Effectively this means that traditional heavy fuel oil used in freight ferries will be replaced with more refined fuel oil which is more expensive to purchase. All the various ferry operators within this area have slightly different but similar systems for calculating the SECA surcharges.
